This past weekend, the ladies of Riptide-Cawes got together for a night of celebrating at team owner Teresa’s house. Not only does this mark the beginning of the 11th year of racing for these tenacious ladies and the 12th annual party, but it also marks the 1st year as the unified conglomerate of two powerhouse teams into one big family. Major things lay ahead for our racers this season and there’s nothing like a night of fun, amazing food donated by BRUNO’s in Neptune City, and tons of smiles to kick things off with! Honored guests Meg Moore of M3, Kathy Penna owner of Brielle Cyclery, and title sponsor Toni Musorrafiti of EPS were also there to share in the festivities as we did our best to show our appreciation for their support. Without these amazing ladies and our other generous sponsors (we missed seeing you!!), our team would not be where we are today!
The teammates voted and results were in and 4 of our riders were nominated for team awards recognizing their feats from the 2015’s season!
* Danielle Ferland – Most Improved Rider. From starting out shaky on a bike that was too big, to ending the season strong taking on the hills of Vermont, the ladies all agreed it wasn’t hard to see how far she’s come! Keep it up!
* Sarah Rieder Iepson – Cawes MVP. Sarah has been described as a diesel engine and ready to take on any course, she also uses that force to support her teammates! With her upbeat outlook and top-notch skills, the ladies of Cawes agreed that she was their MVP of 2015.
* Deborah Leedale-Brown – Riptide MVP. Having put herself out there throughout the past year, Deborah has been a supportive figure for all the levels on the team. Whether during a race or as a friendly face from the sidelines, the Riptide ladies agreed that Deborah was their MVP of 2015.
* Barbara Statton – Team Riptide Award. Anyone who knows Barb can surely tell you how caring and strong of a person she is; she absolutely personifies the ideals our team holds dear. Because of that, not only is she near and dear to our hearts but it was agreed she best represented what we strive for as a team.
Those who were able to stick around into the following morning took to the bikes to take full advantage of some warmer February weather – including Meg Moore before heading back down to New Orleans!
Special Thanks to BRUNO’s in Neptune City for donating some seriously delicious food. They have supported us from the start and always make sure no rider goes hungry!
And a major Thank You also goes out to team owner Teresa DiSessa-Johnson. Having starting the team in 2005 and keeping it going strong for so many years takes major dedication, love and generosity – none of this would be possible without her! Thank you, Teresa!!
Cheers to an awesome group of women and here’s to the start of another amazing season of races – stay tuned for great things!
