Hammonton was the location for the Blueberry TT, 10th stop in the NJ State Time Trial series. With temps already in the 80's it was going to be a hot one!
The course is a 15.5 mile flat circuit with 4 turns, the longest TT in the series. Riders Victoria Cottera, Beth Bonilla, and Andy Maher were representing Team EPS today. Beth has been dealing with a knee issue all season so we were happy she was feeling up to racing.
Victoria was first up in the junior category. Today's event had a start ramp which made some riders nervous so they opted to start along side it. Victoria was a little apprehensive but brushed her nerves aside and used the ramp. I was off next for our team in the open women's category followed by Beth just 30 seconds behind me.
I got off to a good start pushing a comfortable pace but holding a little in reserve for the later few miles. After the second turn I noticed a significant change in the wind and watched my speed start to drop. I pushed on watching the mile markers pass and picked up the my pace for the last mile. I crossed the line happy with my effort. Beth rolled in right after me and had also had a great ride. Victoria won her category by a huge five minute margin. A great day for Riptide with all three of us on the podium.
Andy Maher: 2nd
Beth Bonilla: 3rd
Victoria Cotero: 1st
