Teresa, Sue, Evelyn and I had a great 100K training ride with an enthusiastic group of about 20 women in preparation for the upcoming 107 mile NJ Gran Fondo in September. This ride traversed some of the same roads as the fondo, but also some of the other scenic backroads of beautiful northern New Jersey. I was personally leading this specific ride as a training for the fondo but also as part of the worldwide event, the Rapha Women’s 100K. Rapha encouraged women to organize 100K ride from different locations around the world on this day to get more women out riding together and to strengthen the women’s worldwide cycling community. It was a hot day, with a high temp of about 93 degrees, but it was honestly such a fun and positive group to ride with that the heat didn’t seem so bad and the 100 kilometers seemed to fly by. This was a good start for all of us to work on our climbing and building up endurance for the fondo which is only 7 weeks away!
