Race summary from Monica Volk:
This crit was part of the Somerville series of races leading up to the renowned Memorial Day race - Somerville. I personally really liked this course. The corners were wide enough to carry most of the initial speed through them so the race could just flow. Deb was a great teammate in the race, a good wheel to follow with good position through out the race. With only two laps to go I was focused on position. I kept myself in towards the font so I could take the corners at speed and be ready for any jumps and the sprint. The last corner of the last lap, I found myself about 5th wheel from the front. I took the corner on the inside so I could cut in a couple places, the position I knew I had to be. Unfortunately riders in the rest of the field were caught up in a crash, which took about 10 riders to the pavement including my teammate Deb who ended up dislocating her shoulder. Knowing her strength and positive outlook I’m sure it won’t be more than a couple of weeks before we see her back in the racing game again!
