Race: Something Wicked, 6 hours of Cathedral Pines, MTB rave
Location: Middle Island, NY
Rider(s): Alli, Teresa, Danielle, TREK Advocate rider Emily Samstag
This past Saturday 3 riders of Riptide-Cawes plus one amazing TREK Advocate hit the trails for 6 intense, but fun hours of racing. Since many of us would be doing an endurance race like this for the first time we teamed up and competed in the duo female relay. The two contending teams were Danielle's Dirty 30 (Danielle, Alli) and Wicked Wasabi Wonder Women (Teresa, Emily).
The start took place at the entrance to Cathedral Pines County Park. Teresa and Alli started first for their teams. At the starting gun roughly 250 racers took off. The energy and adrenaline was running high. The course looped the riders back to the woods were 10 miles of packed, fast and mainly flat single track layed. Within the first few miles were 3 steep inclines that got your legs working and blood pumping. After making it past them there were no straightaways just twists and turns which really tested our cornering skills!
Alli, Teresa, Danielle and Emily were finishing their laps within a few minutes of one another making the competition fun and close! In the end Emily and Teresa took 1st by 3 minutes over Alli and Danielle.
The race was well run, the people were incredibly friendly and we really lucked out with warm, sunny weather! To top it all off we celebrated Danielle's 30th birthday! We all won the day. 🙂
1st - Wicked Wasabi Wonder Women (Teresa, Emily Samstag)
2nd- Danielle's Dirty 30 (Alli, Danielle)
