![]() Race Date: 3/16/2014 Race Type: Criterium Location: South Jersey Riders: Meg Moore, Barbara Statton, Bobbie Mach, Cristina Cortés, Erin Mandato, Dana Hanchin, Andrea Brennan, Deborah Leedale-Brown On Sunday many EPS ladies represented the Team at the South Jersey Spring Series in Woolrich, N.J. Temperatures were more reminiscent of winter with the 3/4s racing in temperatures in the high 30s. The 3/4 riders had a stacked field of 31 riders with 1/3 of the field being made up of by 1 team! Back for her first race of the season, after a long recovery from knee surgery, Meg Moore led the field on the final two laps of the race finishing in 11th place. This was the first criterium for Cristina Cortes in the USA and on a challenging course with a large field Cristina finished in the VERY impressive 16th place position. The remaining team finishers were Bobbie Mach in 14th, and Barb Statton in 24th. We anticipate great things from our 3/4 riders this year as they are taking full advantage of the training value in these early season training races to learn about each other in racing situations and to build teamwork. Dana, Deborah, and Andrea represented EPS/CSS in the Women’s Open field; racing alongside the 45 plus men. This race was fast and furious. Navigating a race in large fast field around tight corners helped blow out the winter cobwebs and proved that Deborah continues to be our resident crit expert. It was a great day for Team Riptide with all three ladies hanging in the pack. At the end of a grueling 40 minutes Deborah finished 1st and Andrea 3rd for our podiums of the day. Good times were had by all. ‘Comhghairdeas’ or congratulations to all our racers and winners!
